Lisa VolkLisa Volk, RN, BPS, LNHA

Director, Clinical & Quality Services

Lisa M. Volk RN, B.P.S., LNHA, joined NYSHFA in 2016. She has over 30 years of experience in the long-term care setting in both the proprietary and not-for-profit sectors. She has held roles as Director of Nursing, Administrator, and Executive Director. Lisa has extensive knowledge in team building, employee engagement, and innovative practices, which lead facilities to achieve consistent high-quality outcomes and revenue enhancement. During her career, her team was recognized by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) as a Quality Award Winner utilizing Malcolm Baldrige criteria and the Island Peer Review Organization (IPRO) for Excellence in Care and Service Award. Lisa has served as an adjunct instructor for the Foundation for Quality Care Leadership Institute and was in the Foundation’s first Administrator Leadership Program.

Amy E. Lee

Amy E. Lee, RN, MSN, CRRN, QCP

President & CEO

Amy Lee is the President and CEO of Coretactics™ Healthcare Consulting, Inc. Amy has a Master’s in Nursing, a Certification in Nursing Rehabilitation, is a certified OASIS Master Trainer, a QAPI Certified Professional.

She is a pragmatic and innovative national speaker who uses her decades of experience in acute and skilled nursing to bring a holistic approach to healthcare operations. Amy has established numerous best practice approaches in falls reduction, wound care management, antipsychotic reduction, behavioral management, infection prevention & control, person-centered care planning, and reducing re-hospitalizations, just to name a few.

Her knowledge of regulatory compliance, operations, CMS Five Star Rating, MDS 3.0, CMS Quality Measures, and reimbursement allows her to assist teams with improving resident care as well as their strategic position in the healthcare market.

Melanie Ronda, MSN, RN

Infection Prevention Specialist

Melanie serves in the role of Infection Preventionist for IPRO, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for NYS, under contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Melanie has been working in the healthcare field over the last 25 years with a wide variety of experiences which includes, acute care, primary and long-term care. While working in acute care, she had the opportunity to join the infection prevention team and found a passion.  She completed her BNS and then moved on to a MSN in infection prevention and control.   She was a member of the local APIC chapter and sat on the board. She has coauthored the mandatory infection control course in New York State for an internet-based company.

Most recently, Melanie has been working in LTC as a DON incorporating her knowledge and expertise of infection prevention and control into the day-to-day activities of the LTC facilities.

Sara Butterfield

Sara Butterfield, RN, BSN, CPHQ, CCM

Director, Upstate Health Care Quality Improvement

Sara Butterfield serves as the IPRO Assistant Vice President of the Health Care Quality Improvement Program. Under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 12th Scope of Work she serves as the Program Director for New York and New Jersey, Task and Aim Lead for the Transitions of Care Initiative for IPRO QIN-QIO, and Aim Lead for Transitions of Care for Alliant Quality. Ms. Butterfield is responsible for facilitating and managing quality improvement initiatives addressing the National Quality Improvement Priorities for Medicare beneficiaries, as identified by CMS. Ms. Butterfield serves as the lead for the NYS Department of Health Medicaid Accelerated eXchange (MAX) Series and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Project Firstline initiative.

Since joining IPRO in July 1998, Ms. Butterfield has coordinated collaborative partnerships with acute care hospitals, home health agencies, Hospice, skilled nursing facilities, and physician practices on a cross-setting, multidisciplinary level to facilitate performance improvement initiatives in support of improved healthcare management, coordination of care and population health.

Ms. Butterfield holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College, Troy, NY. She received the Certified Case Manager credential from the Commission for Case Manager Certification and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, through the national Healthcare Quality Certification Board.
